Obama’s History Problem

“Long before America was even an idea, this land of plenty was home to many peoples. The British and French, the Dutch and Spanish, to Mexicans, to countless Indian tribes. We all shared the same land,” President Obama told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Two problems I see with this speech:

  1. Mexico declared its independence from Spain on September 16, 1810.  The United States of America declared its independence  from England in 1776.  So Obama’s math just doesn’t add up.
  2. When quoting the Declaration of Independence he pauses for a long time near the line where it should say, “endowed by their Creator”,  hesitates, and instead says, “Endowed with certain unalienable Rights.”

This is what should have been said:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

So what do we learn from this? Obama is trying to reinterpret history, and is rewriting it without God.
