Love this Associated Press description of the new Barack Obama made by John McCain.

Republican John McCain ratcheted up his attacks on Barack Obama Friday, debuting a new web ad mocking the Democrat as a quasi-divine figure who had anointed himself to rule the world.

Does anybody else find the use of the word “ratcheted” funny? It’s not like they could just say, “in other news, John McCain released a new ad on Friday making fun of democrat Barack Obama.” They have to us words like “ratcheted”, to imply that the ads will increase, and not back down. Which is probably true. Though they definitely aren’t using the same descriptions when Obama releases new attack ads. Those Obama ads are largely ignored, or mentioned briefly. “today Obama released another ad, conservatives are dumb. and next in sports…”.
